On 5 June, the partnership between Carterton District Council, Dalefield Horse Riders and Forest Enterprises was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the use of Council’s Kaipatangata Forest block for recreational horse riding.
Forest Enterprises manages the council-owned forestry block. An ideal location for recreational horse riding, all parties recognise the benefits for the horse riding group having access to land where they can ride safely off public roads.
“This initiative is a great example of the different ways the forest environment can be enjoyed. It makes our role as forest manager all the more rewarding” says Malte Coulmann, Forest Enterprises’ Forest Estate Manager.
